Over the past year I had the immense pleasure of working with Google again on Phase 2 of the Sound Matters project. This was recently announced but I was in Guatemala so I couldn’t share it properly. I am finally back in the studio and I can talk a little bit about our work.
I was very excited to join forces with Henry Daw again after our initial collaboration two years ago. Henry joined me in Hokkaido along with Conor O’Sullivan, Haruko Ayabe and my wife Eco Zhang. The 5 of us explored the remotest parts of the island looking and listening for exciting nature sounds.
It was not an easy task to record pristine nature in Japan, but with a lot of effort and research we pulled it off. We managed to find undeveloped and raw landscapes where wildlife is thriving, and we recorded some amazing soundscapes. Check out the behind the scenes video below for a quick look at our adventures.
