African Cloud Forest is a collection of immersive ambiences recorded in Ethiopia's high-altitude montane rainforests. These recordings will transport you to the heart of remote cloud forests, teeming with wildlife and free from man-made noise. All times of day and night are covered, beginning with the subtle predawn ambience when Colobus monkeys wake up and start growling menacingly. Lush dawn choruses give way to calmer daytime ambience and insect activity. Late afternoon and dusk choruses are also included, slowly moving into nightscapes that feature Owls, Nightjars, Ibises and crickets. Places like dense cloud forest, small lakes, marshy clearings and forested valleys are featured.

A special feature of this unique environment is Fog Drip. Heavy clouds often cover the entire forest and while it’s not technically raining, the humidity is so dense that water condenses on vegetation forming heavy droplets. Soft rain and wind are present in some recordings, complemented by distant nighttime thunder.

Every file in the library has been carefully meta-tagged with descriptive keywords for ease of use. The library also comes with a pdf document listing all identified species for each and every recording. A word of caution here: this location is poorly explored so several species were not possible to identify and can even be new to science.
